Gard has always had a strong focus on knowledge and expertise and our staff has a wide range of backgrounds ranging from law, business and finance to marine biologist, industrial ecology and physiotherapy.

She also demonstrates how her studies is relevant to her work in Gard today. Tracy holds a BBA (Hons) in International Shipping and Transport Logistics and is a Claims Executive based in our Hong Kong office.
New collaboration agreement on insurance law

Last Thursday, 22 August Gard and the University of Oslo signed a collaboration agreement to finance an investment in insurance law.

Gard is a member of the International Group of P&I Clubs. The 13 Clubs which make up the International Group between them provide marine liability cover (protection and indemnity) for some 90% of the world's ocean-going tonnage.

Claes Isacson Scholarship 2019 now open to applications

The scholarship for maritime education was launched in 2013 to honour the memory of Gard’s former CEO and his contribution to Gard. The aim of the scholarship is to help young people finance an education at university level with a view to finding work within the shipping and marine insurance sectors after completion of their studies.
Asian Gypsy Moth season 2019

The Asian Gypsy Moth (AGM) is a destructive forest pest known to spread via ocean-going vessels in international trade. Vessels calling at certain ports in the Asia Pacific between May and September should therefore be inspected and “certified free of AGM” prior to departure, this to minimise the potential for regulatory action when arriving in a country where the pest is not native.

Member retention levels endorses strategy of stability and predictability
20 February 2019 - With the closing of the 2019 P&I renewal on 20 February, Gard today announced that its net tonnage had increased by over 7 million in the last 12 months, with total owners’ mutual now in excess of 214 million GT. 99% of existing tonnage stayed with Gard.
