MMG App updated with Hantavirus guidance

The MMG is an easy-to-use medical App designed specifically for seafarers, providing up-to-date guidance on both physical and mental health conditions at sea. Developed by Gard and the Norwegian Centre for Maritime and Diving Medicine, it ensures that shipboard medical officers and crew have reliable access to current, evidence-based recommendations when treating illness or injury onboard.

Following the recent hantavirus outbreak onboard a cruise ship in April, the MMG has been updated to include guidance and recommendations to support early recognition of the virus, appropriate response, and risk management.

The MMG offers a practical and symptom-based approach, designed and verified by doctors specialized in maritime medicine, and step-by-step guidance, advising when and how to get expert medical advice when needed.    The MMG has been approved by several flag states, including Norway, Bahamas, Marshall Islands and more, as its equivalent national medical guide to the WHO International Medical Guide for Ships.
