We strongly believe in the results that industry collaboration may yield. The International Group is a unique industry body and a cost-effective vehicle for the mutuals in pooling large claims and the collective purchase of reinsurance.
The Group has three "core" functions; operating the claims sharing ("pooling") arrangements and the collective group reinsurance; a forum for collecting and exchanging views between the Clubs and their shipowner members on matters relating to shipowners’ liabilities, and the insurance of such liabilities, and it provides a collective industry voice vis a vis external stakeholders including intergovernmental maritime organisations, national governments, marine authorities and the shipping and marine insurance/reinsurance industries.
Gard is a strong supporter of the International Group including its role as a forum for knowledge sharing and as an industry voice.
