Vessels with NOR or NIS flag can now apply for CLB- and CLC-certificates from the Norwegian Maritime Authority simultaneously while ordering the renewal of insurance certificates from Gard’s customer portal.

"This is great news for our customers with Norwegian-flagged ships. It significantly reduces their time spent on admin and ensures a smoother and more seamless customer experience", says Line Dahle, Chief Customer Officer in Gard.

Simplified and streamlined

Maritime director in The Norwegian Maritime Authority, Alf Tore Sørheim, explains on their website that the solution simplifies and streamlines the application process for the maritime industry.

"The solution is developed with the customer's needs at the center, and we believe the maritime industry will greatly benefit from it. This is a result of a joint effort towards digitalization. Shipping companies get a simpler and more efficient application process, as insurance certificates and certificates can be renewed simultaneously", states Sørheim.

Expanding the solution

The new solution works in such a way that shortly after applying the certificates, they will be sent to the email address registered in Gard's customer portal. As soon as the certificates become valid, the applicants will find it conveniently available under Log in to My Vessels in The Norwegian Maritime Authority's portal.

"This is currently an offer to Gard customers who are renewing existing insurance agreements. The Norwegian Maritime Authority hopes to expand the solution and that more insurance companies will offer this to their customers in the future", says Senior Advisor, Tove Aarekol, in the Inspection, Audit, and Preparedness Subdivision in The Norwegian Maritime Authority.

Significant efficiency gains

Chief Customer Officer in Gard, Line Dahle commends the Norwegian Maritime Authority (NMA) for their forward-leaning approach and valuable contributions throughout the whole process.

"We hope more flag states will follow suite, so that this becomes standard also in other flag states. This would imply significant efficiency gains also for the greater ship owning communities. In Gard, we stand ready to offer our support to further simplify and digitalise our industry", she says.
