Given the circumstances, I think we can be quite pleased with how things are developing. Investments have started to improve after a challenging period last year, and our insurance results – remarkably strong in 2022, the best in 15 years – are now reflecting a more normalized claims picture, still well within our long-term expectations. In short, I think it is safe to say that Gard is steering towards another robust half-year result, continuing the positive trend we have seen for several years.
In times of global uncertainty and rapid change, this is perhaps more important than ever. Increasing geopolitical tensions are impacting our industry in several ways, as is the green transition and the much-needed shift toward alternative fuels. In Gard, our top priority is to help you navigate through all of this, providing risk mitigation, loss prevention and support. So that wherever you are, and whatever comes next, we are here to help.
On a personal note, I am grateful for having been able to meet many of you in person over the past few months. Yes, the future is digital, but people and relationships will always be at the heart of our industry. Personal highlights in that regard include the Gard 25-year Anniversary in Hong Kong, the Singapore Maritime Week, the Nor-shipping conference in Oslo, and last but not least, our summer seminar recently held in Arendal. It was great to finally get together again – and we are already looking forward to seeing you again next year.
Thank you for your continued partnership and collaboration. On behalf of all of us at Gard, I hope you stay safe and well, and I wish you a wonderful summer ahead.
