Commitment to respect human rights At Gard, we are dedicated to upholding human rights and embracing the principles outlined in international standards and conventions, including:

We promote human rights and labor principles within our workplace and throughout our value chain. Our goal is to focus on people for sustainable growth. We achieve this by: Formulating clear policies that outline our commitments.

• Carrying out risk-based due diligence within our own operations and supply chain and business partners to identify, prevent, and address any potential human rights issues.

• Developing competence, fostering diversity and equal opportunities, preventing discrimination, and providing grievance channels

• Assisting our members and clients in safeguarding the lives and well-being of seafarers and other stakeholders affected by our business.

Seafarers’ Safety and Well-being

Seafarers face tough challenges in their work, and the demanding nature of shipping can affect their health and well-being. Our efforts to support seafarers are extensive, including improving crew contracts and industry standards, providing training and guidance to ship owners and crew. We are also committed to the goals of the Maritime Just Transition Task Force in ensuring that seafarers worldwide receive the training required to handle new technology and fuels. In partnership with the Norwegian Center for Maritime and Diving Medicine, supported by the Norwegian Maritime Authority, we have recently introduced the Mariners Medico Guide. This guide is available through a user-friendly app.
