Guidelines on the application of the IMO International Safety Management Code (August 1996)

Published 19 August 1996

Circular No. 4/96 August 1996

TO THE MEMBERS

Dear Sirs,

Guidelines on the application of the IMO International Safety Management Code

The publication "Guidelines on the application of the IMO International Safety Management Code" issued by the International Chamber of Shipping and the International Shipping Federation is designed to assist companies in the development of a safety management system to meet the requirements of the ISM Code.

The Guidelines were first published in 1993 and have since then been a major source of information to shipowners on how to comply with the ISM Code.

Now the third edition of the Guidelines has appeared. In order to assist Members? compliance with the Code, the Association has decided to provide each owner entered in the Association with a copy of these latest Guidelines. This edition is more comprehensive than the earlier ones and will hopefully provide useful advice to all owners whether they have already implemented the Code or whether they are in the process of doing so.

Please find the Guidelines enclosed.

Yours faithfully, ASSURANCEFORENINGEN GARD -gjensidig-
